What to do for colic babies

One of the most commonly asked questions by anxious parents of newly born babies is of course, what to do for colic babies.

One of the first things to remember is of course not to panic. Calming the baby and walking with a baby in the lap for a while can go a long way in providing relief. It is also essential to avoid feeding the baby foods which have an overdose of sugar as these can aggravate the condition. Gripe water is one of the oldest and most effective medicines that one can give to the baby. If the baby was being fed when the pain started, it is imperative that the feeding is topped for the time being. Swinging the baby or providing a similar rhythmic movement can also divert the baby’s attention and ease the pain. Making the baby burp or making the baby lie down on his or her stomach can also reduce the pain by letting out the excess gas out of the baby’s system.

Though there are a number of solutions which parents can come across while enquiring about what to do for colic babies, yet, it is important to remember that each baby will have his or her own comfort zone when it comes to the treatment and medication.
